Gildran

The Golden Capital

The oldest and most grand city in all of Lagorn. The Golden Queen Ryadriel rules from the Gilded palace. Gildran's central location within the empire makes it an ideal outpost for trade, commerce, religion, and information. The city is located where the Great Golden River feeds into the Twin Moon Lake.

Demographics

The city is a true melting pot of the different species that inhabit Lagorn. While dragonborn are the largest majority of the population, they only account for about 20 percent of the total.

Government

Queen Ryadriel oversees both local and national affairs from the Gilded Palace with the aid of a democratically elected cabinet. There are five members of the Queen's cabinet; the Law-master, Master of Commerce, Master Treasurer, Master of Faith, and Master of Public Affairs. The cabinet meets monthly, and the queen holds public court once a week to hear concerns and grievances of the common people.

Defences

A fifty-foot wall surrounds the city with twelve guard towers placed evenly along its circumference. The wall's battlements are lined with ballistae and catapults and each tower is topped with a powerful arcane turret that are said to be able to ground an adult dragon with little effort. While the Law-master has their own garrison of troops to watch the city streets, the walls are manned by the Imperial Dragonguard.

Industry & Trade

In addition to being the central hub of the empire, Gildran is also the country's largest source of gold. Whether its panned from the river, dredged up from the lake, or dug out of the mines to the west, gold is seemingly found all around the city.
