Sengroth

Sengroth (a.k.a. The Man of Glass)

Sengroth, the man of glass, has existed since well before the planet of Ellides. Born on Ixerynn from a pulse of magic caused by circumstances unknown to history, the legend Sengroth is thought to be just that in Ellides - a legend. As this legend goes, Sengroth emerged in front of a group of miners who had recently killed one of their companions in hopes of acquiring more ores, and such more profit. These miners planned on covering up the murder as a monster attack when they returned, and out of their greed, a monster from one of the nearby patches of shining crystals. Destroying everything in its path, including the miners, the man, born of crystal and broken glass, made its way out of the cave, and haunted the world of Ixerynn ever since, punishing the greed of man, then lurking back into the darkness.   Somewhere around three thousand years before the awakening, a group of silver watchmen (mages of Ixerynn before the human races came to be) attempted to seal away Sengroth. They were ridiculed, as the rest of the creatures who knew of their expedition laughed, and told them they'd never find Sengroth. Even if they did, they would likely die without a fight, or so they were told. Sure enough, after years of hard work, the group had finally thought they'd caught where exactly they could find Sengroth, after observing the amounts of crystals in any given area compared to the amount of sightings of Sengroth in the same area, and found that an attack by Sengroth would happen 24 hours after a spike in the amount of blue non-magical crystals within a given one-mile radius. After determining what they thought to be the next attack location of Sengroth, they convinced a large group of Ents from the forest to assist them in trying to kill Sengroth. The night they left, their homes were mysteriously crumbled to ash, and they were never seen again. Multiple other hunts were led since then on the planet of Ixerynn to find and kill Sengroth, but none were successful.   337 years before year 0 of Ellides, a young sage by the name of Melori came back to her home from a trip to buy berries from a nearby group of pixies, only to find that her house had been torn apart - ripped from its seams, with a family inside crushed under its weight with claw marks on them; they were strangely uneaten by any creature. After hours of shock and denial, she ran back to the pixies, who she hoped could help her family. The pixies informed her of what they thought had happened - the man of glass had taken more lives yet; there was nothing they could do at this point, lest they would anger The Watcher. Furious with this decision, Melori set out to find and forever quell the man of glass. Trading off every last one of her possessions in favor of equipment and training, she fought through her immense grief for her family, and steadily growing fear of Sengroth to find him, and with her training, successfully sealed him away to the plane of souls, condemning him to a state that was neither dead, nor alive. The drawback to this - she suffered the same fate. Since that day, their physical bodies have drifted through the plane of souls, in a catatonic, never-ending drift through the homes of the gods.
