Mereglass island

Mereglass Island is a solitary island located several miles south of Raygon. Isolated from other landmasses, it is known for its dense forests, peaceful atmosphere, and the mysterious lake at its center. The lake's surface is so perfectly still and impossibly clear that it resembles a sheet of polished glass rather than water. No matter where a person stands around its shores, the reflection always appears as though it is directly behind them.

Geography

The island is surrounded by sandy beaches that gradually give way to open grasslands before quickly transitioning into dense forests. The trees grow thick enough to resemble a rainforest, their intertwined branches creating a canopy that allows only scattered rays of sunlight to reach the forest floor.
The island is rich with plant life, towering trees, and thick undergrowth, making travel through the interior difficult. The air is warm and humid, and wildlife flourishes beneath the dense canopy.
At the island's center lies its greatest wonder a freshwater lake nearly 300 feet deep. Its water is so perfectly clear and calm that it is nearly impossible to distinguish from a giant sheet of glass. The lake reflects everything around it with flawless clarity, regardless of the angle from which it is viewed, giving rise to the island's name.

Localized Phenomena

The Reflect Side

Hidden beneath the lake is a mysterious mirrored realm known as the Reflect Side.
Those who emerge from its waters initially believe they are still on Mereglass Island. The same forests, grasslands, beaches, and towering trees surround them.
However, subtle differences soon become apparent.
Water constantly seeps from the trees, cliffs, and ground itself. The earth is permanently soaked, muddy, and soft beneath one's feet. Small streams trickle toward the central lake from every direction, as though the entire island is slowly draining into it.
While the landscape appears nearly identical to the real island, one major difference exists.
Traveling west eventually reveals the entrance to a cave that has no counterpart on the surface.
The passage slopes deep underground, its stone slick with flowing water. As explorers descend, they begin to feel a steady breeze growing stronger with every step.
Eventually the tunnel opens into an enormous cavern.
Before them stands an immense maze.

The Maze

The maze is constructed entirely from Aerolyth a rare dark blue meta known for its affinity with Wind element.
Its towering walls twist through the cavern in seemingly endless paths, making it incredibly easy for explorers to lose their sense of direction.
The maze only has a single true route leading to its center.
Throughout the labyrinth, powerful winds constantly shift directions, echoing through the corridors. Attempting to fly over the walls is nearly impossible, as violent gusts immediately hurl intruders back toward the cavern ceiling, often sending them crashing into sharp stalactites.
The maze is also filled with numerous traps, combining both physical mechanisms and magical enchantments.
Common hazards include:

• Hidden pressure plates that unleash razor-sharp wind blades.
• Powerful gusts capable of throwing intruders into walls.
• Water chutes that sweep explorers through narrow passages at dangerous speeds.
• Concealed pitfalls.
• Poison dart launchers.
• Magical traps that combine both water and wind to disorient and separate intruders

Those who successfully navigate the maze eventually reach a vast circular chamber at its center.
Curiously, despite the constant moisture throughout the rest of the Reflect Side, this chamber is completely dry.
In its center stands a self-filling fountain whose water never overflows, yet no visible source feeds it.
Guarding the fountain is a single Sphinxes, silently awaiting those few who prove worthy enough to reach the heart of the maze.

Climate

Mereglass Island enjoys a mild climate throughout most of the year. Sunny skies, steady winds, and light rainfall are common.
A constant ring of wind surrounds the island, gently pushing ships and sea creatures off course before they can drift too close. This current can be felt not only in the air but beneath the water as well, creating an invisible barrier around the island.
When large storms approach, this strange wind current appears to weaken and divide them. Instead of striking the island directly, most storms split apart and pass around it, leaving only gentle rainfall behind.
