Dragoon hearthstone

The Dragoon Hearthstone is an extraordinary piece of ancient technology known only to a handful of researchers and scholars. It is a small crystal capable of deploying an entire suit of enchanted armor, complete with weapons and wings, transforming its wielder into a Dragoon within a single second.
According to the surviving records, the armor grants its user power comparable to that of a dragon, making the Hearthstone one of the most powerful artifacts ever discovered.

Utility

When activated, the Dragoon Hearthstone instantly equips its user with a complete set of armor, replacing their current equipment in moments.
The armor completely covers the wearer from shoulders to feet, resembling a masterfully crafted suit forged from polished metal and dragon scales. Every Hearthstone is paired with its own signature weapon, forged in the same style and sharing the appearance of scaled metal.
At the center of the breastplate rests the Hearthstone itself, now much larger than its dormant form, serving as the armor's core.
While wearing the armor, the user gains numerous enhancements, including:

• Greatly increased physical and magical abilities.
• Enhanced senses.
• Resistance to one elemental affinity.
• A pair of fully functional wings capable of true flight.

The wings emerge from the back of the armor and resemble those of a dragon. Their frame appears metallic, while the wing membranes are formed from magically generated crystal matching the Hearthstone's color.
Historical descriptions claim that a fully equipped Dragoon possessed strength rivaling that of a dragon while maintaining the agility of a humanoid warrior.

Discovery

The Dragoon Hearthstone was discovered inside an otherwise unremarkable cave during a mining expedition.
The miners had been searching for new ore deposits when they accidentally broke into a hidden cavern. Inside they found only three objects:

• A perfectly preserved silver-white crystal shaped like a sphere.
• A weathered journal.
• The skeleton of an unknown individual.

The skeleton rested peacefully against a stone pedestal, its hands still clutching both the journal and the crystal.
Despite the passage of thousands of years, the journal remained in pristine condition. Researchers later determined that a protective enchantment had preserved it until another person touched it. Once removed from the skeleton's grasp, the enchantment faded and the crystal entered a dormant state.
The remains were estimated to be approximately 7,000 years old.

The Journal

The journal was written in both the Worldest Language and an unidentified ancient language. It contained numerous sketches of armor, weapons, dragons, magical symbols, and engineering diagrams.
Fortunately, the first page was written entirely in the Worldest Language.
It read:

"My fellow Dragoons,
If this journal has reached you, then I pray our sacrifice was not in vain and that the war has finally come to an end.
Should you be one of my brothers or sisters, take this Hearthstone and continue protecting our world. May the spirits of our fallen brothers, sisters, and dragons guide both you and your stone.
If you are not a Dragoon, then I ask only one thing: protect this Hearthstone. It houses armor and weapons powerful enough to rival the dragons themselves. It was forged as both an honor bestowed by a dragon and a duty entrusted to its guardian. Keep it safe until one of my brothers or sisters returns to claim it."

Research Notes

The artifact became known as the Dragoon Hearthstone because of the journal's description.
Although much of the ancient language remains undeciphered, the surviving sketches reveal an elaborate suit of armor equipped with wings, weapons, and numerous magical systems.
Our current findings suggest the following:

• The Hearthstone possesses a powerful Light affinity. It radiates magical energy greater than many refined Lay Line Crystals. Its magical signature bears striking similarities to that of dragons.
Internal scans suggest something resides within the crystal, though its nature remains impossible to determine.

The journal implies that the crystal can instantly deploy an entire suit of armor around its wielder.
If true, this technology is unlike anything currently known.
Modern enchantments can store weapons within magical bracers or place equipment inside enchanted storage containers. However, no known device can instantly equip a complete suit of heavy armor, wings, weapons, and magical systems from such a small object.
Despite its immense magical power, the Hearthstone refuses to react to any external magical wavelength. It cannot be used as an energy source like a Lay Line Crystal, nor have researchers managed to force it to activate.
My current hypothesis is that it requires a spoken command phrase or another unknown form of authentication known only to the original Dragoons.
Regardless, it represents one of the greatest technological achievements ever uncovered from the ancient world.

Theft

Several years after its discovery, the Dragoon Hearthstone disappeared.
Curiously, the journal remained untouched.
In its place was a single handwritten note.
"Thank you for taking care of the Hearthstone.
When you are finished with our brother's remains, please give him the proper burial he deserves."
The theft raised countless questions.
Whoever reclaimed the artifact clearly knew what it was and where to find it. They had also read the journal, removing only one page before leaving the rest behind. Researchers believe the missing page likely contained instructions explaining how to activate the Hearthstone.
Out of respect for the unknown Dragoon's final request, the researchers gave the ancient warrior a proper burial.
The gravestone simply reads:
"To a Hero and Guardian of the World."
