Storykeeper

Stories shape the world. Long before books were common, before kingdoms rose and fell, knowledge passed from one generation to the next through the spoken word. You were one of those entrusted with preserving that knowledge. Perhaps you traveled from village to village collecting local legends, served as a court chronicler recording the deeds of kings and archfey, memorized the histories of your people, or wandered the roads singing ancient epics beside a campfire.
A storyteller is more than an entertainer. You are a keeper of memory, a preserver of culture, and a witness to history. You know that stories change as they are retold, and that every tale reveals as much about the teller as it does the events themselves. Whether you seek forgotten lore, strive to immortalize great heroes, or simply wish to ensure that the past is never forgotten, your words carry the weight of generations.
Many storytellers become adventurers because they seek new tales worth telling. Others pursue lost histories, ancient mysteries, or legendary figures whose stories have yet to be written. Whatever your reason, you understand a simple truth: deeds fade, kingdoms crumble, and heroes die—but stories endure.

Suggested Characteristics

Storytellers are naturally curious people. Some view themselves as historians and scholars, seeking accuracy above all else. Others are performers who believe a good story matters more than a truthful one. Many are fascinated by people and cultures, always searching for new tales to collect, preserve, or embellish. Whether humble chroniclers or boastful bards, storytellers understand that stories possess power—and that those who control a story often control how history remembers it.

You can usually identify the broad origin of a story, song, proverb, or folktale. Other storytellers are often willing to exchange information, gossip, rumors, and local history with you. In most settlements, you can usually find someone familiar with local legends, traditions, or notable historical events, and fellow chroniclers generally view you as a colleague rather than a stranger.
