Temple Services
Welcome, guildmates. The first time most of you read this is when you've just returned home from a quest that didn't go entirely to plan, and resulted in you losing a dear friend and comrade, or having one rendered crippled by ailments beyond your ability to cure.
So first things first - my sincere condolences. I've lost friends of my own. It's never an easy pain to endure.
Breac Sunfist
Most temple services that involve the reversal of death involve diamonds. As Little Warriors, it is expected that you respect the cost of even the simplest of restoration or ressurection spells, and what that kind of wealth represents to the common folk of this world. You are therefore expected to cover these costs yourselves.
As always, quest treasures, spoils of war and the like are yours by right. Your donations are appreciated, but not mandatory.
Spell casting availability
The High Cleric is the highest ranking guild cleric (left standing). They are a level 17 spellcaster, but given the guild's precarious state they are often abroad in the field on critical assignment. Therefore you can rely on their availability for only one day each week. This is enough to:
- Cast up to 12 level 3 spells (Remove Curse, Dispel Magic)
- Cast up to 6 level 5 spells (Raise Dead, Dispel Evil and Good, Greater Restoration)
- Cast Resurrection once per week.
Lady Wintergreen is available for high-level Druid spellcasting only at her discretion, as her efforts are focused on protecting the World Tree. Other guild members are free to offer their spellslots and downtime to assist the High Cleric.
Return only of the willing
A spirit can only be returned to a body through use of the spells offered by the guild if it is willing to return.
Use of other spells to return a spirit against its will is an act of great evil. While agents of the Guild are given great leeway in determining how they achieve their objectives, use of such unrestricted necromancy within the bounds of the Guild Hall is strictly prohibited except in immediete defence of the hall itself. Agents are warned that most civilised nations of Elanora also prohibit use of necromancy in this way. Even in the Empire of Eal, it is permitted only under strictly controlled circumstances, for reasons severe such as the rescue or preservation of the living, and only on a temporary basis.
Resurrection Sickness
Resurrection takes its toll on both healer and patient. The week after a guild agent is resurrected, they take Resurrection Sickness and suffer three points of exhaustion. This cannot be cured by anything except time.
This penalty persists for the first week the character plays at a quest session in the Little Warriors Adventurers Guild. It then reduces to 1 point, and the week after that the character is back to normal. While waiting for the character to rest, you are free to play a backup character without penalty.
The High Cleric, or any other caster who casts Resurrection, cannot complete other downtime activities on the same week as they cast this spell, although they are free to quest and take standard actions to prepare for their next quest (such as travelling, shopping, etc).
Reincarnation
Reincarnation is a Druid-only resurrection spell castable by any Druid of 9th level or above. It requires only a single body part of the character to have survived, but it requires 1000 gold worth of rare oils.
Temple Services Costs
The below costs are based on traditional price of 200 gold pieces per carat of diamond. Actual prices in Elanora markets may vary wildly, and are only likely to inflate if we begin buying these gems in bulk from local markets.
| Name | Cost (diamonds) | Castable by | Limitations |
|---|---|---|---|
| Resurrection spells and reversal of the condition of Death | |||
| Revivify | 1.5 carat (300g) | Many classes | Missing body parts not restored. Target must have been dead no longer than 1 minute. |
| Raise Dead | 2.5 carat (500g) | Lvl 9 Cleric or Bard | Missing body parts not restored. Target must have been dead no longer than 10 days. |
| Resurrection | 5 carat (1000g) | Lvl 13 Cleric or Bard | Must be some part of the body left to touch. Target must have been dead no longer than 100 years. The High Cleric can cast this once per week only. While this spell does regrow lost limbs and body parts, it has been demonstrated to fail if the head is severed and kept intact, but apart from an otherwise intact body. |
| Reincarnation | 1000g of rare oils | Lvl 9 Druid | Rerolls the target's race. Target must have been dead no longer than 10 days. Requires rare oils, not diamonds. Requires only a piece of the body. |
| Cures | |||
| Lesser Restoration | Free | Many classes | Cures only poisons, diseases, blindness, deafness or paralysis |
| Remove Curse | Free | Many classes | Cures curses and allows unattunement from cursed magic items |
| Dispel Magic | Free | Many classes | Specifically ends spell effects only. |
| Dispel evil | Free | Level 9 Clerics | Removes posession, fear and charm, but only from celestials, fiends, fey or undead |
| Greater Restoration | 0.5 carat (100g) | Level 9 Clerics, Bards and Druids, some Warlocks | When all else fails. Will remove petrification. Has been demonstrated this does not reverse rewriting by Nathrael. |
| Regeneration | 1 vial of holy water | Level 13 Clerics, Bards and Druids | Restores missing limbs. Wintergreen can cast this almost at will. |
