Rauxes

Rauxes was the capital of the 'Great Kingdom of Aerdy', ruled by Ivid V until 586, when it was torn apart by warring wizards and princes on the news of the king's death. It is surrounded by a magical barrier that prevents anyone seeing into it, and anyone who passes into that barrier is never seen again.

Ivid V was known to have made liberal use of demon summoning to bolster his military and to enforce control of his vassels, so it is possible the barrier was established by Mordenkeinen or one of his allies to keep something in rather than keep the world out. Regardless, the rise of suspicion of magic users culminating in the recent witch-hunts in Keoland, Ahlissa and Nyrond and the rise to power of the Divine Order can be traced back to roughly this time.
