Greyhawk City

Greyhawk is a Free City, populated by freedom-loving people, which if left to its own devices might not have established authority over any of its neighbors. Sadly, it was not left alone.

The city slopes north to south, with the richer folk tending to live uphill to the north. It is divided into 8 quarters, with 2 poorer quarters to the south forming the 'Old City'. It is one of the largest cities on Oerth by population, and is about 80% human, with a large smallfolk minority, particularly halflings. It is highly diverse in race, culture, language and religion - by Oerth standards, anyway. It is also diverse in industry and skills, as they have resisted the Divine Order's fanatic witchburning without losing their identity as people of faith. Druids, however, are few in number. The natural order bends to humanity's will here.

The Greyhawk Militia keeps the peace here, under the leadership of Captain-General Tigran Gellner. The city is governed by Lord Mayor Joseph Picton, a former Little Warrior. New to the position and under great strain, Joseph has reluctantly broken ties with the Guild to give respect to his new position, but sends regular reports.
