Dedicated to the esteemed gentlemen of the Bronzemantle Society.
One must wonder, as an elite of many appetites and a healthy amount of avarice, where does one idle the ample free time we are found with? The Empire, under the great light of Kaizeth, has blessed us with many an avenue in which we can whet our palates. In Shaldorn Hold, there are no less than 10 establishments at any time providing drink, food, and entertainment to delight the senses. It is good to keep in mind which may leave your purse lighter than intended, and which dens of debauchery you'd be sensible to wear your ballmasks to. My dear readers, it is my honor to provide you with a comprehensive listing of the many delights of the Shaldorn Empire.
Kaizeth's Grace
An early morning to rise is a sign of a well-bred gentleman, and to reward one of the habit, the temple provides many services, including breakfast to those attending within the first two hours of the seventh hour bell. It is wise to give a donation to Kaizeth, as His Grace is to thank for the generosities of the city. From either the gate or the port, the temple can be found straight ahead.
The Rose and Respite
It is to be noted that any distinguished gentleman living within the walls have an extensive dwelling area located just north of The House of Shaldor, the Lord's manor. But those visiting from other great nations will have the pleasure of staying at The Rose and Respite. Unlike the temple, breakfast is served well until the tenth hour, allowing ample rest after a night of debauchery. Dinner is served at the nineteenth hour, and drinks are free with the purchase of a meal. From the gate, the inn can be seen directly ahead to the right. From the port, turn left at the temple and it shall be on your left. Elise Ketta, the matron of the inn, has requested it be known that she, nor any of her staff, are available for hire. For such arrangements, they can be made at The Wet Seabird.
The Chalice of Chance
This is a humble establishment just behind the Rose and Respite, and it certainly may be unknown to even some life-long Shaldorians. It is quaint and unobtrusive, and only the cacophony heard after the twentieth hour will alert one to anything amiss. Inside, however, are several tables of various card and dice games, all with their own risks and rewards. There are two levels to the building, both filled most nights with people of all means betting on one game or another. I will admit, my humble readers, that I had not stayed long enough to uncover the specifics of the games played within, but I am certain the gentlemen running the establishment would be well receiving of questions, even despite the most uncharitable looks I had been the recipient to. There is a small, handwritten note on the margins of this paragraph, "No longer in business".
The Royal Frog
For those bold enough to have traversed any of the magical planes, or those wishing a safer way to have a little piece of one, this shop has all your needs. The owner of this fine location, Tibias Thrennal, has been so kind in providing me this information, which I shall provide to you as thus: All merchandise has been acquired lawfully, the lightning gauntlets are indeed extremely heavy, and the name of the shop is supposedly based on a true event.
The Wet Seabird
Let it be known, dear reader, that I do not recommend renting a room here. The Rose and Respite is a much cleaner, much more reputable stay, and The Wet Seabird is fit only for sailors, and for the occasional gentleman who wishes to partake of a more... carnal delight. Despite the seediness of the establishment and its' patrons, the lovely ladies under Madam Leithana's care are clean, and could pass as well-bred in any other locale. This is certainly a moment to don the aforementioned ballmask, as it isn't illegal to partake of the amenities this establishment provides, but it also is not somewhere someone with a larger pocketbook should be recognized. Take great care, but do indulge in the delights the Seabird can imbibe one with.
Pages For Ages
This delightful little bookshop has works from all over Eisuth, written by many a venerable wizard, lord, or adventurer. Here, you can also arrange purchase of any number of rare and magical tomes. It is said this shop also has, upon special request, erotic novels and diagrams for the well-informed. Due to high request volume, the shopkeep asks that customers keep to one special order a month. Another handwritten note in the margin, reading, Burned down.
The Market
The marketplace down by the port has plenty of stalls and vendors with all the most recent treasures procured across the seas, some from within the seas themselves. One might find a broach or pendant worth being a family heirloom, or perhaps a local sailor made a particulaly spectacular catch. No matter the item, there is always something to find here, and the booths change stock near-daily as the ships enter the port. Just a word for the wise, keep your purse well attatched to your person, preferably hidden until the need to make a purchase arises.
