Day 4 Notos 40, Year 352

• At Remzi's shop.
• Cirina goes to quickly check the journal from Samir Es’Inlas. She wanted to verify that the expert that Samir had sent for, Astaron Storm, wasn't some sort of healing expert that they are trying to entice to arrive in Arra.
• Meet with Demetrios the nephilim lawyer.
• Head out to grab some dinner while we wait for the dinner hour to pass.
• Discuss how to approach the chief of staff.
• Vasia and Akito branch off to scout the grounds. Note some curtains moving. Sneak into a house and find someone watching the chief of staff's house.
• Vasia and Akito subdue a fighter/guard at the house next to the house.
• Akito and Vasia investigate the house.
• Akito finds 4 bone needles from the man's blowpipe. Dagger. Armor in a box.
• Marking there, too. Akito thinks it's either a fancy design or a marking of a certain cult he's heard in the area. Cult of the Great Beast. Of Rovagug.
• Cirina and Radjic approach the chief of staff's house. After Radjic gives his name to the guard.
• The attack happened when Orenti was given a stone carved with screaming faces. Baru Paelikant seemed to act with excitement.
• He's lying.
• Radjic convinces Kamazu Botros to let Cirina and he in.
• Justice Sina Al'Torif (or rather her man, Ishaq?), has a story that will be told.
• Orenti has been listening to Sina for awhile. Tried to curb the grabs for power she's made.
• Journal that has recorded people's coming and going from Kamazu's house.
• He suggests we go visit Baru. Lots of extra guards there, including Baru's.. probably the only reason he isn't locked up. Seems to think that the caravan would be the better option to look to. Cirina feels justified at suggesting Radjic talk to him first.
• Regroup. Cirina identifies the symbol as the mark of the Golden Dawn, like Ishaq.
• Radjic continues to be sketchy about going to see Baru. Eventually takes us there. The caravan is obviously being watched. Jeff and Greg, half-giant blooded, scary, but friendly. Like to knit.
• Caravan is leaving as soon as possible. Grabbed some adventurers to protect the place.
• Talk to Baru. Apparently he's been tangentially related to assassination attempts in the past.
• He really bumbled up the situation. Was confused about the gift, thought he might have put the wrong gift in.
• Definitely seems like the time scale has been moved up on Sina. Seems like she might have something planned for the eclipse, maybe?
• She might not be telling the Golden Dawn and Ishaq everything. Using them?
• Radjic asks Baru about his marble.
• Baru shipped it along with some water related magic items to Astaron Storm of the Storm Wardens in Kurakesh.
• Head to bed after.
• Dreams strange; not obvious, fleeting moments on waking. Black sun. Ever present in the sky.

(Jan 18, 2025) Notos 40 - Allegations and Misinformation

We rejoined our heroes as they finished picking up supplies at Remzi the Artificer’s shop, where they also met Demetrios, the nephilim who’d been browsing the store as well, who introduced himself as a lawyer and general representative. Cirina took his card, before the group headed to speak with the Mayor’s chief aide.

Not wanting to interrupt him over dinner, the group stopped for food, discussing how they planned to approach the situation. With… something… that could be called a plan from Radjic, they broke into pairs with Vasia and Akito scouting around while Cirina and Radjic approached the door.

Spotting an observer in a neighboring building, Vasia and Akito quickly snuck inside and subdued the man, finding a log of the people who’d come to visit the aide and the man’s armor stuffed into a box. They left him trussed up with graffiti on the walls and his armor scattered.

Meanwhile, Radjic and Cirina spoke with Kamazu Botros and learned, after some coaxing, that the story being told wasn’t correct and that Baru Paelikant had seemed surprised when the gift had started screaming and spraying needles. He plans to flee town, not wanting to get caught in what comes next.

The heroes regrouped, shared what they knew, and went to speak with Baru Paelikant. There, they learned he too was planning to flee, though he gave them a name - Carinus - as the last person who might have switched out the gift he had actually brought for the Mayor.

Radjic learned, unfortunately, that his precious marble had already been sold to one Astaron Storm, leader of the Storm Wardens and located in Kurakesh. Baru shared what he could about the situation, before the group parted ways so as not to be too closely associated with the merchant.

Breaking up for the evening, the group found their way to bed and sleep - where all of their dreams featured a black sun hanging still and silent in the sky.
