Day 3 Notos 39, Year 352

• Bury the alchemist's fire. (6 barrels buried in the desert north-north-east of Arra.)
• Head out, thinking about what we're going to do about Eser Pree situation.
• Titus Leptus, adventurer at large, ambushes us.
• Seems kind of an ass. From Acconia?
• Was waiting for us at a ravine closer to Arra. Wanted to take Eser Pree from us. And rob us blind.
• Akito managed to convince him that we weren't worth the trouble. They even give us food.
• Leaving, Akito mentions he wants to go back and kill them.
• Argument about that.
• Radjic seems amenable at first, then changes his mind.
• Head out, taking a roundabout way.
• Locate a camp in the Wastes. Kevin the lizard digs down, locates an old house. Dig into it.
• Cirina finds some old books.
• On watch.
• Music heard, but not like the night before.
• REST

Day 4 Notos 40, Year 352

• Arrive at Arra.
• There is a black flag, marking a plague house, above mayor Orenti's house.
• Rumours: The flag went up that morning. Things have been quite tight lipped. Bringing in healers from Kurakesh.
• Rumours: Strange winged figure being followed by two people playing music. Wings were fluffy or feathery.
• Rumours: A woman sees a place/city very far out in the wastes that had buildings/residences, but nothing she says matches things we've heard about. Roads up to the sky, lights.
• Rumours: Dwarf who is quietly hiring people to look into an oasis in the wastes that has mysteriously survived. Would be an incredible discovery if it's true. Could set up a waystation.
• Go to speak with Justice Sina Al'Torif.
• She's somewhat unhappy about not getting to hang Eser Pree.
• Doesn't see through the lie that Radjic provides her about him attacking, them killing him, and then burning the body.
• Cirina takes them to speak with Alia. A friend of hers in town who works as a healer.
• She tells us a story that she was told. Someone (a caravan leader named Baru Paelikant or Pelican) brought a gift from the Torvian Wastes which somehow stabbed him.
• Having Alia look at the bone fragments from Samir Es’Inlas' body, she confirms they are the same.
• The mayor's injury and Samir's death are linked somehow.
• Go to speak with Remzi.
• There's a tiefling shopping in the store for scrolls/scribe material.
• Remzi tells us that she's heard a bunch of stories.
• She assumes that it was an assassination attempt, but that someone is framing Baru Paelikant or attempted it indirectly through him.
• She knows one of the servants/cooks and will provide us with the address before they skip town.

(Jan 11, 2025) Notos 38-39: Conspiracies and Questionable Covers

Our heroes decided to head back towards Arra and try to uncover more of whatever it is that Justice Sina Al'Torif is up to. On the way, they were accosted by one Titus Leptus, Adventurer At Large, out to steal Eser Pree away from them and claim the reward for himself. Akito, however, was able to convince the brigands that not only did they not have Eser Pree, they weren’t even worth robbing.

Suitably chastened for their attempt to rob such meager travelers, they gave the party some food and parted ways. Once safely out of earshot, Akito proceeded to try and convince the party to return to the other adventurers and kill them in their sleep. After some lengthy conversation the party declined, not thinking that Titus and his folk were hired directly by Justice Sina and likely not to be encountered again.

Another night spent on the borders of the Wastes, and another night of strange music - though this time with a clear direction to it.

On returning to town, the party split up to see to a few things, gathering rumors and returning horses. While they were gone, the Mayor’s manor was put under quarantine - and the party later learned that there had been some sort of mishap during a formal function with Baru Paelikant and Prince Zaiid . A gift from the Wastes that had detonated or malfunctioned in some way.

They also spoke with Justice Sina, relaying the lie that Eser Pree had unfortunately perished in the desert. Taking some pity on the group, she passed along a slightly reduced reward: a shiny platinum piece for every member of the party.

Cirina led the group to a local healer she was familiar with, and the healer - Alia - confirmed that the shards of bone she’d seen around similar wounds were like those that Cirina kept in a beaker, and that the mayor’s injuries matched those.

They then decided to try one more avenue of gathering information - the artificer Remzi, who shared their concerns, and offered to put them in contact with a person who’d been working the dinner the night of the accident.

The trader Baru Paelikant and Mayor Orenti’s chief of staff remain as possible leads as to what occurred, since it has become obvious the information reaching the public does not, exactly, all hang together. Justice Sina, the well-regarded war hero, is clearly involved; though to what extent is not yet clear, nor are her overarching plans.
