Seket-Hetep

Seket-Hetep, known in common parlance as the Offering Fields, is the Outer Plane of Absolute Law, Order, and Eternal Reward. It exists geographically "beyond the West," positioned as the cosmic antithesis to the chaos of the Twelve Hours of Night. Cosmologically, it is a realm of unyielding stability, characterized by golden landscapes, eternal twilight, and a perfect lack of entropy.

The plane is divided into distinct sub-realms that serve two functional purposes: as a path of transit for the pre-Judgment spirit and as a permanent estate for the post-Judgment soul.

The Dual Nature of the Plane

The architecture of Seket-Hetep is defined by the transition from movement to stillness.
  1. The Spiritual Transit (Pre-Judgment): Upon death and the completion of funerary rites, the five-part spirit apparatus is mobilized. The Ba (the personality) is the only component capable of traveling freely through the sub-realms of Seket-Hetep. However, because the Ib (the heart and seat of conscience) and the Ren (the true name) are passive parts of the spirit, they remain inextricably linked to the Ba for the duration of the journey. This unified traveling spirit navigates the linear path of refinement toward the Hall of Truth. Meanwhile, the Ka (the life force) and the Sheut (the shadow) remain in a state of suspended proximity to the physical body, awaiting the outcome of Judgment.
  2. The Final Assignment (Post-Judgment): Once the traveling spirit—the Ba with its linked Ib and Ren—reaches the Hall of Truth and undergoes the Judgment of Osiris, it is reunited with the Ka and Sheut, and finally the physical essence, to become a whole soul. At this moment, the soul is assigned a permanent residence in one of the three rewarding sub-realms based on its proven worthiness. A soul does not progress through these realms after Judgment; it occupies its assigned station for eternity.

The Seven Sanctuaries

The Sanctuaries are the first regions a pre-Judgment spirit encounters upon entering the plane from the Mountains of the West. They appear as immense, self-sustaining oases—lush, verdant landscapes capable of housing entire civilizations. As a transit zone, the traveling spirit moves through these oases to find the paths leading deeper toward the center of the plane. Following Judgment, this realm becomes the primary reward for the vast majority of souls. Each soul is granted a permanent home and a sense of absolute belonging within these peaceful gardens, where they enjoy the blessing of eternal peace.

The Pillars of the Firmament

This spectacular landscape is characterized by twenty-one colossal crystalline pillars that anchor the sky to the earth. The space between these pillars consists of fertile caverns, idyllic towns, and eternal plantations. During the initial journey, the traveling spirit must navigate the labyrinthine passes between these pillars to reach the refining borders of the Marches. For those adjudged worthy of a more exalted reward than the Sanctuaries, the area between the unyielding pillars serves as a permanent, joyful home, housing souls whose lives demonstrated a higher degree of endurance and devotion to Order.

The Marches of Fire

The Marches act as the metaphysical and physical boundary between the lower estates and the divine center of the plane. It is a region of perpetual, unholy heat, featuring rivers of liquid fire and pits of boiling mud. Every pre-Judgment traveling spirit must cross this gauntlet, where the fires act as a filter to purge lingering earthly fears and doubts from the heart and identity. This is a process of purification rather than punishment, stripping the spirit of all dross before it stands in the presence of the Judges. Once the soul is perfected post-Judgment, the Marches serve as a permanent barrier, ensuring the purity of the Amentine Valley remains unsullied by the echoes of the mortal world.

The Amentine Valley

Also known as the Valley of the Blessed or the Gardens of Final Rest, this is the innermost sanctum of Seket-Hetep. It is the seat of the Lawful deities and the site of the Hall of Truth, the pivot point of the afterlife where the Council of Judges performs the Final Judgment. While every traveler reaches the Hall, the Valley itself is reserved as the permanent residence of the gods and those rare souls of exceptional righteousness, such as Saints or the Sons of Ra. It is a land of sublime peace where the divine and the perfected dwell together in the Light of Order.

Planar Traits

This plane is a realm of eternal reward, where order and goodness prevail. Its planar traits reflect the divine nature of its rulers, Horus and Osiris, and the tranquil life of its inhabitants.

Strongly Law-Aligned and Strongly Good-Aligned: This is a key feature of the plane. Creatures with a Chaotic or Evil alignment will find their powers and abilities hampered and will be treated as if they were affected by a spell that gives a -2 penalty to their rolls. Chaotic or Evil spells will have a hard time functioning as well.

Normal Gravity: The Offering Fields are a serene and stable environment, with no erratic gravitational effects.

Normal Time: Time flows normally here, allowing the righteous to enjoy their eternal reward at a predictable pace.

Divinely Morphic: The deities of this plane, Horus and Osiris, can shape and alter the plane at will to reflect their divine nature. Their influence can manifest as anything from the creation of peaceful farms to the shaping of new mountains.

Enhanced Magic (Good and Law): Divine spells related to good and law are enhanced here, making them more powerful. Conversely, spells with the Chaos or Evil descriptor are impeded.
