The Binding Howl

Ritual of Redemption and Reforging   (Performed by Howling Seers, with participation from the pack)     (The redeemed Varg-stray kneels before the Heartstone. Their claw-brand is touched with sacred ash and sap from the First Blood Oak. A Seer begins the chant.)     “Name once lost, now born anew.   Fang once dulled, now drawn true.   Shadow walked, but now the flame,   By trial, by blood, we speak your name.”   (The pack speaks the new name given, a name forged from their deed.)     “The Red Den remembers. The bond is reforged.   You are no longer stray. You are no longer forgotten.   From claw to claw, from breath to breath,   We howl you back from death.”   (Each Seer touches the redeemed on the shoulders or forehead with black sage smoke. Then the Alpha steps forward.)     “The pack watches. The pack welcomes. Canis bears witness.”   (Then, all raise their heads, and the Binding Howl begins, a long, rising, wordless cry from the pack. The Howling Seers harmonize with low, resonant tones that echo through the stone. It is said that if Canis accepts the return, the Heartstone will flicker red and a faint wind will stir the fur of the redeemed.)     Final Words (Spoken by the Seers)   “Run with us. Hunt with us. Die with us. You are pack.”

This is a rare and sacred ritual of rebirth, performed only a handful of times in living memory. It does not erase the past, but forges a new identity and path forward, one bound in courage and loyalty, through blood, deed, and divine witness. The entire pack participates in the final howl, calling the stray back into the fold under the watchful eye of Canis, The Wolf-Headed God.
