Callemos

Alien ships, from a mysterious species called the Callemos, arrived at a human planet. Openly declaring their mission to bring humanity to its knees, these ships destroyed the human vessels in orbit, launched an invasion to destroy the ground forces, and methodically destroyed the planet from orbit. Humanity was now at war with a numerically superior, technologically advanced foe, with motives they didn't understand and financing from an alien alliance they didn't know anything about.

Long ago, humanity was the only known major power in space. While there were indeed alien species, many of whom were benevolent quite happy to settle down and integrate with human society, humans were the only species to have their own spacefaring civilization. This changed when the Callemos arrived. The Callemos share no such love for piece, and they proceeded to lay waste to any human colony they can find. These creatures are the reason humanity, and the alien species allied with them, were on the verge of extinction.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The Callemos are fairly humanoid. They possess two arms and stand upright on two legs, have three fingers and a thumb on each hand, and have relatively similar facial and body structure. They are covered in soft bluish-black scales that provide little in the way of protection but are protective against vacuum environments for short periods of time.

Facial characteristics

A Callemos face appears fairly similar to a mix of a dragon and human, though with some differences. Their mouth protrudes slightly forward from their face as a conical snout, which is also where their nostrils are. While closed their mouth is almost impossible to see. They have two small eyes, though it doesn't appear that way: Callemos have two pairs of glowing scales in line with their eyes that look like eyes from a distance. In the dark, many human soldiers have been frightened by the false belief that these creatures possess 6 eyes. Their ears are small and pointed, sitting right above a large blue fan that appears very similar to a bat's wings.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

It is unclear where the Callemos originate from, but human scientists do know that they live fairly close to the edges of human civilization. Part of the reason for the war (or at least why they are fighting it rather than their sponsor) may be proximity to humanity.

Civilization and Culture

Average Technological Level

The Callemos are significantly more power on a technological level than humans. Their ships are capable of using beam and plasma weaponry that can tear an unshielded ship apart in a single shot. Gleaming blue energy shields protect almost all of their military assets, from the most basic foot soldier all the way up to their largest capital ships. Infantry carry a wide variety of plasma weapons designed to kill their enemies in various unpleasant ways. Many of their vehicles are capable of hovering across the ground, bypassing landmines and rough terrain entirely. Most of their soldiers wear bullet-resistant armor capable of keeping the wearer alive in a variety of hostile environments. It is unknown what traits their cities have, but their bases are built out of blue and black metals that glow with energy. In some instances, certain Callemos individuals are capable of utilizing what seems like magic against their foes. Many of their technologies are simply completely beyond the comprehension of humanity.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

The Callemos are openly hostile towards humanity and all of the alien races humanity has allied itself with. They show no mercy, take few prisoners, annihilate cities, and generally act in whatever way is necessary to bring these rival species to extinction. However, it seems as if they are not necessarily genocidal simply for genocide's sake. Intelligence suggests that the Callemos may actually be the warrior caste for an alien organization, one that has set its sights on removing humanity from existence...
