Captain Ovius

Captain Ovius is the first Eerish merchant who has successfully sailed all the way to the Free Seas. He managed to establish a stable trade route and gave foundation to a bunch of the first colonial settlements. He is not the only person helping Sol Meridia becoming the crown jewel it is, but he continues to be hailed as one of the founding fathers of the flourishing transoceanic trade.
Little is known about his life before he started sailing on the coastal fishing vessels and slowly worked his way up the sailor trade to be remembered by name. But what is definitely known is the fact that he was married, with three children, by the time he was chosen to lead the expedition across the vast ocean. No one knew if the journey will be successful and no one knew if he will ever return. Since his primary heir was already nearing fifteen, he knew his family will be able to continue on no matter his legacy.
The problem came about when he did sail across successfully and actually married for the second time while living over there. Since the people of the Free Seas follow different laws, both of these marriages were technically legal, albeit probably morally wrong. Many sailors fell into the vice of establishing multiple families and keeping them oblivious of each other's existence and captian Ovius was sadly no exception.
More than two hundred years have passed since the inaugural voyage and both branches of the Ovius family are numerous and prosperous merchant navy families who are constantly vying for power, dominance and more profits to be made. Each seeing themselves as the rightful heirs to the legacy of the first captain, each strongly despising the other. If only the captain was able to keep his interest in his pants, the economy scene of the colonies could have had much smoother sailing.
