Zodiacal Tar

A strange, elusive substance found only in the deep reaches of the Protium Shore where Weeping, wounded space-time has not yet had the chance to scab over and scar. Zodiacal Tar has various unusual, otherworldly properties, many of which remain poorly understood, and its true nature is a matter of much debate.   Zodiacal Tar is primarily associated with the divinatory practice of casting the Deep Zodiac and in aiding astrogation off of the Protium Shore beyond the Great Constellation. Zodiacal Tar has a few niche uses as a raw material, namely in the creation of expensive Celestial Silk, and in special forms of voidship caulking.   It is held in the mythology of the Great Constellation that the fates are written in Nebula Ink, which is believed to use Zodiacal Tar as a base.   Zodiacal Tar is occasionally encountered on a massive scale off of the Protium Shore, where it binds interstellar dust together into thick beds of shimmering Zodiacal Shale.

Relation to Aberrance

Zodiacal Tar's relationship with Aberrance is a matter of some debate. Some believe that due to its apparent extradimentional origin it is the cause of increased Aberrant forms in the vicinity of a tar weep. Others assert that Zodiacal Tar is more akin to a clotting agent, associating it with a decline in Aberrance some time after the initial surge in Aberrance after a wound in space-time has occurred.
An intangible star-stuff embedded in a glassy pitch. It weeps from a wound in reality itself, a glimpse into another place that cannot be touched.
