Summer Camp 2026
It's almost that time of the year again! Horrendously hot but with the best summer camp!
I'm gonna admit I'm more hyped to do CSS shenanigan in this homework than the homework itself wooop.
Anyway! Homework! Let's-a-go!

Hopscotch
I hid it >:))
Half just kidding. Click on the buttons on the right of this box. Like the one saying "Pledge your goal" (if it has a "?" it's not written yet).
Warning: lots of swear words :) (I'm not in a mood, I'm just unfiltered right now and can't be arsed to dial down).
Because the lack of JS (website nerd word), if you click somewhere in the page that's not a button, this box will re-appear! Also, I made it work in phone (you won't be seeing it this cool tho) but couldn't be arsed to make it work on other resolutions. It's proooobably fine? I don't worry bigger screens, smaller screens, on the other side... Just let me know if it gets too unreadable on your computer.
ALSO! Because more website nerd words shenanigans, links inside these brown boxes won't work! :DDD You can find all links under this section of the article. If I don't forget. Please, remind me to do that if I forget, I have a tendency of forgetting stuff when I get excited doing stuff and setting up this whole interactive hopscotch got me exited (even if it's quite tedious in some parts)
Copper.
I'll probably have time to get diamond? But I haven't hit that in years. Plus because of reasons, this summer might half-suck, specially mental-wise so I'm not aiming for much (that's a lie, getting copper last year was a struggle and I was in a similar situation, send motivation pls)
Look. It sounds great to update old articles or create a new ones, to get the feeling and all of that. But! Genuinely no idea what I'll be working on this Summer Camp. Yeah, I'm not about to plan too much, just going with the flow.
THAT said, I might start a new world? I have an idea for it, not screaming "WRITE ME" yet that's why it's a possibility only.
THAT said, I mentioned the idea to a few friends and as I talked about it, I felt a bit hyped. Then Demongrey convinced me to read "The Martian" (not too hard, just shared like the first paragraphs of the book with me) and I read-binged that shit so badly I think I should start working on this world (trust me, it'll make sense once I get to eventually talk about the world somewhere).
NOW YOU ARE TALKING MY WORDS (does that sentence even make sense? Fuck English)
Again, no idea where I'm working tho!
Thankfully all my worlds (at least the ones I focus on—I FORGOT TO FINISH THE CSS OF ASHTARA FUCK. Someone remind me later) have their CSS updated! Main pages layouts are fine, can't say that all articles have good layout... too many shit to check from working on some words for like a lot of years. About maps and timelines? Shattered has both, Iphars has a quite outdated ugly map but the updated map is taking longer than intended (I keep forgettign to work on it), and Vaelis has a map and I can't be arsed about timelines! :D (Might eventually create a timeline of the main scenario articles? Not sure how I'd tackle the "sidequests" since you can take them in wahtever order—or would be able if you weren't limited to me writing and publishing them rn)
"Oh, Cato," I hear you say, "but what about this possible new world? Shouldn't it also have these stuff?" You ask.
Look. Two things can happen here. Either the world gets a half-made shitty CSS (enough for vibes and readability) or I made all the CSS in like two days. If I was able to create Shattered (theme and all) in a week and then proceed to win an award, I think I can improvise something. Plus, CSS comes in easier than writing sometimes. About the layouts, maps, timelines? Fuck them. I'll have some layouts but that's mostly because I keep using same structure for all articles in a world, so as soon as I write the first article, I'll probably have the layout for all the world.
*pointing at the CSS box*
They are good enough :)
And yeah, I'll improvise something for new world if it happens. I do happen to love writing homepages and primers so this is the least of my problems (problems still being energy and motivation yeeey)
I don't know where I'll work and I'm going with vibes.
Or at least you might be thinking that if you read the previous hopscotch (left of this) section. BUT! I actually *do* have something to say in here.
Up until now (except my first summer camp) I've been focusing on working on Iphars for it. One continent at a time. Can't say I quite remember what I did last year cuz I ran out of continents BUT!!! If I work on an existing world, it WILL be Iphars, and I'm thinking I'll probably focus on Kinduar, capital of Estril. No, I don't have much more than that other than a couple old af sc articles. I know it's a city on the coast, in or next to a river delta. Not linking anything cuz I'm gonna figure out the city with the prompts if I work on Iphars and whatever stubs I have (if any) will be probably outdated.
Now, if I work on the new world instead, I still have some sort of focus? I'll be focusing on one small area (like, whatever you can reach walking while being able to be home by night) and the past of a person (and the culture of said person maybe). I don't know why I'm keeping some sort of secrecy with this new world? Maybe to not hype you too much in case I don't end up working on it? Eh, whatever. I'm happy to answer questions (if I know the answer) tbh.
If you've spoken to me before you are probably by now aware that I love organising. Category pages are FUN and should be used more often if you as my opinion. Iphars' categories are fine. Probably. I'm a bit scared to check cuz I'll probably have more new ideas for it and I feel it's already complex enough.
For my new world? I actually have no idea how I'd tackle categories :D I'll cross the bridge when needed.
Oh, yeah, articles about the area of focus. Ehhhh.... Don't think I will :)
Kinduar, being capital and a port city, I expect it being a big exporter of produce from Estril. What do they export? Not sure! Economy and trade isn't my forte, it makes my head hurt. But it feels quite clear that Kinduar is the heart of the country (duh, it's the capital) and being a place where a lot of exporting happens, there's probably lots of importing too and a lot of people crossing and passing by. So it's feels quite connected to Iphars.
For the new world? The physical area where the person will be the whole world (not really the planet itself but more like the whole important part for the world's story I wanna tell). Any information that comes up from the past or culture of said person will be a bridge for the reader to meet the person and why is in that situation. Probably. I kinda know how it ended in that situation, probably will talk about it in the primer.
I know related to Kinduar I have Lars Sik, his son, the Church of the Hidden One, and one random ass conflict article from many sc ago that I feel like deleting or fully changing its foundation. Echo's fairly related to the Church of the Hidden One. Well, Riox's Avatar is. Totally not Echo :) Why would I say Echo?
Literally no idea what's gonna happen for the new world but that's the fun of it.
Why not? Okay, I'll give more info.
I have a few friends that randomly decide to go explore Iphars and leave likes on old articles or stubs they encounter. I have a list of all these likes and I meant to start editing these articles. It quickly felt overwhelming, RIP, but, for some reason, I focused on revamping Lars Sik and whatever's surrounding him, and I still have those tabs open. It's probably been a year >.> So I saw them and was like "yeah, why not Kinduar? It's where Lars lives". (I actually have three "groups" of articles open but the other two can't count for this).
For the new world? Picked cuz it's genuinely the first place that came to my mind. There might be more in a future? But let me go step by step.
I suck at following schedules.
Looking at my current schedule, I'll probably try to write in the mornings. Not the weekends tho.
Cato from the end of the month! I suddenly have two weeks of the months busy :DDD Back to chaotic schedule I go. I won't even try to plan around that.
I don't like doing playlists ngl. If I make one, I'll probably forget about it or won't be vibing with it by the time I use it. I listen to music based on how I feel and what I'm obsessed with at the time.
Now, about books. I've read "The Martian" and I'm currently reading "Project Hail Mary". Both are great and are quite inspiring for possibly new world!
Hi! This is Cato from a few days later (than when I wrote the last sentence, still not done with the third hopscotch tho). I have finished "Project Hail Mary". Really good. I know understand the obsession of the artists I follow in tumblr suddently drawing grace and rocky and adrian.
Hi! Cato from even later (just about to share homework 4 and the sheet). I've now started Artemis xD
I don't understant why I am forced to read articles from fellow anvilites when I do that as often as I can :D
I've recently surfed across the Yonderverse while searching for the stickers! Does that count?
I also walk around the house quite often cuz dogs and garden stuff to do. Does that also count?
People really interested in this? What's the point of this for prep? Anyway... I guess my creative process, while probably similar, varies based on each world? And if I work on it while away from computer or not. Lemme explain I guess.
I'll start with how I work when away from computer. I hate working on phone and on my tablet (unless drawing in tablet), so I am not working there. I write down on my notebook or whatever paper piece I have around. Usually I start with some vibes? A bullet list of things I want or feel it needs? (Tho sometimes I've skipped this step if I know quite clearly what I want). Then I write blurbs of information of these things, sometimes I go by theme or information I'll group and put in the same section in the article; otherwise marking what info goes with what is my next step. FINALLY —and sometimes is the longest step—, I figure out a layout for the article or straight up do the layout as I go while passing the information to WA. This last step takes longest cuz I'm lazy and it's annoying to move information to WA and I refuse to use any IA or app that turns images to text, plus also takes long cuz my ass can't decide on layouts but needs them to be made as I write the information in WA.
I thought talking about working away from computer would be the shortest. Either I lied to myself or we are in for a long ride in this section. Buckle up just in case? (Well, you have the scrollbar to see more or less how much you have left...)
Working on computer is essentially the same for all worlds, but with tiny differences that make me feel I'm doing stuff quite differently tbh. I'll talk about Iphars, Shattered, Vaelis Arin, and Ashtara (even tho this last world I keep forgetting about..)
Iphars' my oldie. Bit over 6 years old. It also has one of the simplest processes I guess, which is probably why I wanna re-do all old articles xD but it's also consequences of mostly working on it during Summer Camp. This world was created for summer camp, yes. The process is simple: look at a prompt, get an idea, search a couple images related to it (I use Unsplash. And yes, I use real photos for a fantays world and it works.), set up my usual layout (4-8 followed by 8-4 containers. Who knows knows, otherwise, you probably ain't Grandmaster and you don't need to know), and fill up the space with text of the idea.
Shattered often follows the 4-8/8-4 structure, with sometimes images on both sides of the section or colourful boxes here and there with extra text. Unlike Iphars, Shattered is only using art that I do myself, and I don't like working on it during challenges (with World Ember exception). I take much more care with structure in Shattered (and, tbh, the rest of the active worlds) than in Iphars, but I quite enjoy it! Shattered's articles often require more thonks and I let them simmer on my brain for longer since I'm not in deadlines often, which often means I start working on it in my notebook and either write it with the notebook method or stop midway and make a frankestein of both methods.
Vaelis Arin follows the notebook process more often than not. At least it starts there and then I finish it on WA. If Shattered required extra thinking, this one needs even more. I think and think of the quotes for articles, then write them down on paper, sometime twice. Maybe I overthink Vaelis' articles too much, but I don't hate it. Whatever the article talks about is something I don't plan as much as quotes. What probably takes more time is thinking of the interactiveness of the world and the art. Man, it's so much fun making the interactiveness shenanigans but it's so hard figuring out new fun ideas that WA lets me do. I don't worry about layouts as much as with other worlds? Well, it's a lie. I care about them, but having so many quotes here and there taking up the whole width of the page makes it easier sometimes and nightmare sometimes.
Ashtara was the trigger to make the notebook process. I remember I was away from my computer for some time, but had my notebook. Don't remember why. HAving in mind my usual 4-8/8-4 (now that i think, my layouts are 8-4/4-8, too lazy to go fix the numbers) I wrote stuff that would be in the 8 sections and quotes or less important info that would go to the 4 sections. It was a bit messy. It's hard to calculate how much it would occupy in computer what I write in paper and even more if the words for the 4 section are half the size (aprox) of the 8 sections. I haven't worked much more on that world so I can't say much more of the process other than I was too lazy to do art for it and I didn't feel like searching images for it and thus there's a LOT of text.
For the new world (I should probably start setting it up...) I expect that there's next to no images, mostly text. Not a lot of layout either, that's gonna be a challenge. Font size will probably be bigger (in computer), there will probably be extra padding on the sizes (again, on computer).
Anyway, I'll stop talking now xD If you've read all of this, thanks and, are you okay? Was this really that interesting?
To have fun. 'Tis just a hobby for me. If I win something out of it, it's a plus. I did try to run a ko-fi membership bullshit for sometime but it was too stressful man. Maybe I'll try again in the future, but I don't like my brain while doing that.
Anyway, yeah, fun. That's it.
My writing space is my laptop. As long as I have a solid surface to put it on and a place to plug it, I have enough writing space (I move a lot even while inside my own house).
I still don't like making playlist. I believe I explained that earlier in the homework.
A break? What's that? Can I eat it?
Sometimes I feel it's more energizing to find motivation and I think my new world has been quite some motivation! In the past 3-4 days I've set it all up! "Ghostly Space" is all ready to be shared around and written! Still some nitpicks on CSS and a couple descriptions more to write but looking NICE so far. Even got it's first article! I'll leave a link under the hopscotch :DD
TY to Mochi, Tynen, and Keon for helping me figure out the world's name!! And to Demon for all the brainstorming with it so far! And congrats to Nul for following it first before Mochi, I know you are proud for that LMAOOther than the obvious (the WA discord's summercamp channel), I have a couple community groups! The Cookies Cottage Chapter, and the STC! They all amazing :D
As for accountability buddies, I've had their names right on top the hopscotch since I started the homework! Thanks to them <3
None and all. It's a bit hard to determine that when my worlds don't really have an "end goal" (other than Shattered, but not working there this SC) and when my creative goal is "having fun".
Links from the hopscotch: Demongrey, Lars Sik (not linking other mentioned articles cuz they need deep editing or straight up being written), Ghostly Space (the new world), Veran Audio Records (Ghostly Space's first article!).
Artfight
I'm a madman and I shall attempt to do Artfight this year (even tho I quite failed last year, woops)! If you are participating, pls lemme know and let's add each other! :D
Team Mystery all the way. I shall try to return attacks regardless if they are friendly or not!
Spreadsheet!
