WE 2025 - recap

I had plans for World Ember. And as is often the case with plans, I didn't live up to them. I basically had the following goals:

• Mirintha: Gods - I still have a few gods to write about, so I will try to write at least one or two of them
• Camp Cozy: Greece - All articles for CC are supposed to be related to Greece
• Nova Gaia: History - Approximately 300 years of Earth's history have to be covered, so let's see how far I will get during December

Those were the official goals. Unofficially I was way too ambitious. Those are the goals I had set in my mind without telling anyone:

• Mirintha: Gods - here I was willing not to write anything at all and I was fine with it
• Camp Cozy: I wanted to finish the whole story of the vacation in Greece, including all backup articles
• Nova Gaia: The history was one goal, but I also made so many images before WE for several organizations that I wanted to write about.

So, how did this work out for me? Well, not at all. I haven't written a single article for Mirintha, not even one god. But as I already mentioned, I was fine with that. I have only been able to write three of the five story parts for Camp Cozy and didn't even made the backup articles for the last of those three. And for Nova Gaia I only managed to write an article about the UTA which in retrospect still misses some information.

Has Worldember been a success nontheless? Maybe. I learned things at least. What I learned? For one, Camp Cozy is not the ideal world to write for during Worldember. Not notifying on articles in hopes people have time to find them on their own by clicking on links in an article is also not the smartest thing to do. But I still managed to write some nice articles for two of my worlds.

Nova Gaia

I was able to write at least two articles for Nova Gaia. One I planned to write. The other one is the last article I wrote for Worldember and what started as just a way to reach my word goal ended in what I consider the best character I have written so far.

This one is about the most important organization on Nova Gaia. It has already introduced nine further articles. As soon as the judging period is over, I have to add some more stuff about where their offices are and so on.

Skyler, as her name is for now, is the first character I have written for Nova Gaia and I think she will be important later on. This article already mentions seven more articles I need to write, among them a lot of characters.

Camp Cozy

I wrote three days of a Greece adventure. Including most of the backup articles linked within them. And as I was focusing on drawing images for Nova Gaia during prep work (which I then didn't use so far) I had only a few required imaged for CC and had to draw most of them during WE as well.

This one I like most, maybe because of the drawings. But maybe also because the research was so much fun. So was the one for the donkeys, I learned a lot about them, and maybe so will you, in case you read one of them.

For those seven articles I draw a total of ten images. Of course, I reused some of them in backup articles, because an article about donkeys without an image of one would be strange. But I am trying not to reuse the images to often.

I hope I can finish the story ark and all neccessary backup articles in a timely manner.

The best part

The most beautiful thing about this Worldember was the amount of articles I read. And seeing, that my comments are appreciated. I think I comment about 90% of the articles I read and like. So hopefully I gave you at least one like and one comment. For me, comments are the highest appreciation I can show for someone else's work. Sometimes it might just be a "Lovely article", but I promise you I try to add more. What exactly I liked or what I wanted to read about in addition to what you wrote. And please let me know if you don't want to hear that, so I can try to remember and not ask questions you might be uncomfortable with.
