Moonberry Fabric

• The exiled yashelin on the moon had a limited amount plant-life and zero animals to work with while trying to build themselves up from scratch
• Many exiles wore the clothes they had on their backs at the time of their exile until they were literally nothing more than rags.
• New exiles often carried messages and supplies within their clothes, which were also used to the point of complete uselessness.
• After these messages and supplies were discovered, new exiles began to appear on the moon sans any clothing or belongings.
• The dearth of resources, the depletion of old resources, and the dire conditions of new exiles made any and all fiber incredibly valuable to the moon's inhabitants.
• Fiber spun from the processed branches of Moonberry Bushes were some of the coarsest, scratchiest fibers the exiles had ever felt.
• It made for strong and sturdy rope, but unfortunately, they didn't have the luxury of specialization.
• Moonberry thread and yarn was woven into fabric.
• The worst of the fabric was used as coverings for their shelters and general protection from the ground.
• The best fabric was washed thrice to soften it and then turned into minimally-cut pieces of clothing. After a few more washes, the clothing was usually soft enough that the wearer stopped noticing it as much.
• Alternative fibers were developed at the same time as the moonberry bushes, but none produced fiber in such large, useful quantities at one time.

Current Story Notes

Samir never wore Moonberry fabric. You couldn't pay him to wear moonberry fabric. He was part of the team aboard the Heshite Space Shuttle that rescued the exiles from the moon, however, so he felt more than enough of it to have a negative opinion on it. The exiles had gotten used to it. When Heyir hugged him, the fabric gave Samir a rash. He - along with the rest of the rescue team - elected not to inform them about it.
