Fas

• The Fas a sophont species which natively inhabit the planet of Aravu.
• Although the yashelin dominate the continent of Kotuye, the Fas have been able to carve out a sizable chunk of land to call their own.
• The Fas have the shortest lifespan out of all of the sophonts in Babikiye, usually capping out at around 25 to 30 years old.
• They have complicated relationship with the yashelin, because their very existence depends upon a symbiotic relationship with them. Without the vimstone-powered power plants that the yashelin built and maintain, the Fas would cease to exist because that is how they 'reproduce'.
• The Fas species are organized into governmental structures they refer to as one's Gens, a shorthand way to refer to the power plant that the Fas individuals were generated within.
• The Fas are the byproduct of the excessive residual spiritual energy produced by the power plants which power the magitechnological society of the yashelin.
• They are chimeric in nature; their spirits were created by the combined spiritual energy exuded from the Afterlife, so they are made up of spiritual energy shed by those within the afterlife. Their physical forms are usually chimeric as well, not definitively one known sophont species or another.
• Their physical forms are exceptionally fragile. It is a mystery how they receive a physical body to begin with, but it is very easy for a Fas to become injured and die even from wounds that other sophonts would shake off.
• The end of life for a Fas: their body seems to slowly dissolve over time until they are little more than wisp-like ghosts of themselves. Eventually, these ghost-like forms are no longer able to hold themselves together and they disperse back into the universe. Fas traditions vary by Gens, but many of the eldest Fas will return to the power plant they were created within so that their energy may be dispersed back into the power plant and, ideally, recycled in a form of reincarnation.
• Many of the Fas struggle with their relationship to the yashelin. They depend on the yashelin to survive, but at the same time, they have a strong desire for independence.
