Vale Protector

The Vale Protectors are a specialized unit that operates under House Valeworth. Officially, they are known as a private military force assigned to handle sensitive missions for the noble house. In truth, they are an elite espionage and covert operations unit trained for secrecy, infiltration, assassination, interrogation, and counterintelligence.   They were created specifically to combat the Dominion of Drakmor, making them one of House Valeworth’s most dangerous hidden weapons.

Public Agenda

To most of the public, the Vale Protectors are simply the private forces of House Valeworth. They are believed to handle specialized jobs for the noble house, such as scouting, security, border patrol support, and discreet protection work.   Among the kingdom’s higher ranks, however, the organization is known as House Valeworth’s espionage division. Because House Valeworth is one of the kingdom’s major military noble houses, the Vale Protectors are allowed to handle missions that require subtlety, speed, and secrecy.   They investigate scouts, track intruders, uncover enemy movements, and perform duties that normal soldiers or knights cannot openly carry out.

Hidden Agenda

The true purpose of the Vale Protectors is far darker.   Jack Valeworth created the organization to perform the kind of work he believed was necessary to protect his lands and the Kingdom of Lumeris. He wanted a force capable of gathering answers, eliminating threats, and ensuring that no agent of the Dominion of Drakmor survived long enough to report back.   Unlike the kingdom’s armies or standard noble forces, the Vale Protectors do not operate under the same public restrictions. Their missions often involve intimidation, torture, assassination, sabotage, and the complete removal of enemy cells.   To Jack Valeworth, they are a necessary evil—an answer to the cruelty of Drakmor with a cruelty of his own. as well get the revegen he wants   Their unspoken doctrine is simple:   Find the enemy. Learn everything. Leave no one standing.

Recruitment

Recruitment into the Vale Protectors is extremely selective and controlled entirely by House Valeworth.   Potential recruits are usually identified through careful scouting by the house. Candidates may be soldiers, guards, scouts, adventurers, servants, or individuals with skills that make them useful for covert work.   The Captain and Vice Captain of the Vale Protectors may recommend candidates, but House Valeworth has the final authority over who is accepted.   The organization looks for recruits who show:
  • Strong respect for the chain of command
  • Loyalty to House Valeworth
  • A willingness to follow difficult orders
  • Skill in combat, stealth, magic, or information gathering
  • The mental strength to survive harsh training
  • A tolerance for violence, intimidation, or cruelty when deemed necessary
Those who learn too much about the organization before being accepted may be forced into service, placed under observation, or quietly removed from public knowledge depending on how much they know and how much of a risk they pose.   Trust is everything. Anyone who joins the Vale Protectors belongs to the shadows of House Valeworth.

Training

Training for the Vale Protectors is brutal and designed to break down hesitation. For the first six months, new recruits endure constant day-and-night instruction, often receiving only six hours of sleep before returning to drills, lessons, and evaluations.   Their training includes:
  • Advanced stealth and infiltration
  • Lockpicking and forced entry
  • Small blades and concealed weapons
  • Poisons and antidotes
  • Hand-to-hand combat
  • Silent takedowns
  • Battlefield tactics
  • Counter-scouting and enemy tracking
  • Interrogation techniques
  • Torture methods and species-specific weaknesses
  • Reading body language and detecting lies
  • Dominion of Drakmor tactics and military patterns
  • Magical training based on each recruit’s aptitude
The mental conditioning is just as intense as the physical training. Recruits are taught to view the Dominion of Drakmor not simply as an enemy army, but as a disease that must be removed completely. They are reminded again and again that mercy toward Drakmor may lead to more innocent lives being lost.   During training, recruits are heavily watched. Instructors look for signs of disloyalty, moral hesitation, or attempts to expose the organization’s methods. Those who cannot accept the Vale Protectors’ mission are dismissed, imprisoned, reassigned, or made to disappear, depending on what they have seen.   By the end of six months, a successful recruit is reshaped into a deadly covert operative—trained in body, mind, and will to serve House Valeworth from the shadows.

Reputation

Within House Valeworth, the Vale Protectors are seen as loyal guardians willing to do what others cannot. To the public, they remain little more than a disciplined private force.   Among those who know the truth, however, they are feared.   They are one of the deadliest and most ruthless covert groups in the Kingdom of Lumeris, operating in the space between justice, vengeance, and necessit
