Ensign Adam's Disease

Named after the first infected individual. A prion infection STD (currently the only known STD) from the planet Croketera in the Zuvyria system that slowly eats the victim's brain.

Treatment is exceptionally painful (the injection site hurts briefly) and costly (out of reach for about 90% of the population), involving several medical nanite and nucleobot injections.

Medical scanners screen for EAD-infected people at the main doors of every colony. Those with EAD are promptly removed from the premises.
