Astrosociology

Astrosociology

An evolution of early “astrosociology,” this discipline studies how human societies form, fracture, and evolve under extraterrestrial conditions—especially on ark ships, stations, and frontier colonies.

Key areas of focus:

  • Gravity-conditioned stratification: How gravity wells (Mars vs. asteroid colonies vs. stations, etc.) shape class structures, physical differences, and cultural identity.
  • Transit-born identities: Generational “transit classes” who were born on ships or in deep space, neither planetary nor station-based.
  • Cultural time drift: Different colonies experience time differently due to relativistic travel or asynchronous communication delays, leading to fractured histories and mythologies.
