Gauss Rifle

Invented by Humans during the early days of colonising their own home system, the modern Gauss Rifle is merely an improvement on an ancient design, and is in widespread use by all races across the galaxy, especially by the Dwarves. This weapon utilises electromagnetic coils to accelerate small steel slugs to supersonic velocities, though the lack of a true barrel makes it inaccurate at long ranges, and the recoil makes the use of a stock and forward grip necessary for most users. The Gauss Rifle's coils are powered by a couple of self-charging batteries, allowing for use away from any useful power sources.
