Sha'raka

Among the Per'kasha, there are those who devote their lives not to discovering new opportunities, but to reclaiming what was left behind. Known as the Sha'Raka, or the Seekers, these individuals roam the forgotten corners of Bariatok in search of the lost remnants of the ancient Per'kasha civilization. Their lives are spent exploring overgrown ruins, collapsed temples, abandoned roads, and cities reclaimed by wilderness, hoping to recover the fragments of a people that once flourished.   To a Seeker, every broken statue, faded mural, or weathered tool tells a story worth preserving. While artifacts of obvious value are celebrated, many Sha'Raka consider a child's toy, a handwritten journal, or a worn cooking pot equally important if it offers another glimpse into the lives of their ancestors. They believe that a civilization is remembered not only through its kings and heroes, but through the ordinary people who lived within it.   The work is dangerous. The ruins of the old Per'kasha cities are home to wild beasts, ancient traps, and creatures that have claimed the forgotten places of Bariatok as their own. Many Seekers disappear without ever returning to their caravans, remembered only through the stories told by those who knew them.   Among the Per'kasha, the Sha'Raka are widely respected, but also gently questioned. Few doubt their courage or devotion, yet many wonder whether their talents might better serve the living than the dead. A healer returning with new medicines, a hunter discovering safer migration routes, or a merchant forging new alliances brings immediate benefit to the caravan. A Seeker may spend years searching forgotten ruins only to return with fragments of pottery or stories whose value cannot be measured so easily.   Even so, few would call their efforts meaningless. The relics recovered by the Sha'Raka preserve traditions that might otherwise fade with time, reminding each generation that the Per'kasha were once builders of great cities rather than wanderers upon forgotten roads. Every artifact they rescue becomes another thread connecting the present to a past that refuses to be forgotten.   For the Sha'Raka themselves, the purpose has never been to reclaim what was lost in the hope of returning to it. They seek the past so that the Per'kasha may one day build a future worthy of remembering.
