Vehicles
What is a Vehicle?
"Vehicle" is the broad term used to describe structures with the ability to stabilise their local space in a manner that allows them to pass through Zones without issue while also keeping their contents safe from any passive adverse affects of the Zones.
Vehicles are controlled and piloted by Operators.
How are they created?
Vehicles can, very rarely, be found abandoned within a Zone, but most often are produced within The Factory.
There is a vast variety of types of Vehicle, however most notably, each form of manufactured Vehicle has to be created with a limitation of some form in order for them to properly function.
Vehicles, as a general requirement, feed off of ambient magic in order to function.
Very few Vehicles are energy efficient enough to be capable of running off of the magic of a single individual, and those that don't must be refilled by resting for a short time near a Mana Well within a Zone.
Forms of Vehicle (currently)
Trains
The Train is currently the most common form of Vehicle able to be produced. They are used solely for the purpose of transportation of cargo between Homesteads. They magically create tracks to run on, however they cannot move around freely.
Trains can only create tracks along paths that must be manually set by expedition teams. This becomes a problem within the many hostile Zones, for obvious reasons.
Homesteads
Homesteads are actually their own form of Vehicle, and they trade sustainability for the ability to move after being "set".
The process of establishing a Homestead is a long and arduous one.
First, a Homestead seed is created within The Forge. Homestead seeds are ovalular in shape, being 7 feet tall and 4 feet wide.
Second, a Homestead seed is brought by an expedition team to the location it is desired to be placed in, and it is activated.
Third, the expedition team must protect the seed for a full week as it absorbs ambient magicin order to bloom.
Finally, after a week, the Homestead seed "blooms", and pushes into the ground, where it will then stabilise the area around it, creating a Zone safe for inhabitation.
