What is a Mana Well

Mana Wells are believed to be a direct result of the events of Year Zero, as they were never observed before it, and, in support of this theory, are only found within Zones.

Mana Wells emanate a significant amount of mana(which has yet to be confirmed to have a limit), and the ambient area around them tends to be a hotspot for magical creatures (in Zones that contain magical creatures, that is).

Effects

Any creatures residing around a Mana Well will experience increased magical capabilities while within a relatively close range, however this is not without downside.

The longer a creature resides near a Mana Well, the more time it has to absorb the mana produced by the Well.

This is an issue, because the mana that a Well produces is tainted by the ambient energy of the Zone it resides within.

For Zones with ambient energy not directly harmful to humanoid creatures, this results in the affected creature experiencing a surge of strength as their body absorbs the ambient mana, followed by a prolonged period of weakness once they leave the area.

This is not a problem for Vehicles, due to their innate capability to prevent creatures from being affected by a Zones environment.

When a Vehicle absorbs ambient mana, it purifies it into a usable form, which it then burns in order to run.
