Orc
Orcs generally fall into two categories. Those that are from the Orcish homeland of Kotland and those who have spread to the winds. Due to the raiding culture of Kotland and their frightening appearance many societies view orcs as savage brutes. Orcs that exist outside of Kotland are usually raiders who stayed behind or shipwrecked other places. The largest example of this is in the country of Hansola. There was once a failed attempt at large scale invasion by Kotland but the Hansolan Navy ran many ships aground on their own coast. For a time the hills of western Hansola were filled with orc bandits but eventually the raiders and their decedents, who have never seen the homeland, were scattered and joined society. Most of them went to big cities rather than face the pitchfork mobs of small towns. This has lead to a booming orc population in and around Solan in particular.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Orcs are usually over 6 feet tall and weigh between 230 and 280 pounds. They have grey or green skin and slighted pointed ears more similar to gnomes or half-elves than full blooded elves.
Genetics and Reproduction
Orc women give birth after only 6 months of carrying regardless of the species of the father. Pregnancy does not hamper orc women to nearly the extent of their human counterparts, they usually keep working and functioning normally up until the last month of pregnancy where they are known to go into homocidal rages.
Growth Rate & Stages
Orcs grow faster than humans do, generally reaching adulthood around 12, 14 for half-orcs. They maintain their physical fitness as they age until around age 50 when they rapidly deteriorate, once this process starts they typically have a decade to live. This is when those from Khotland partake in their death saga. For half orcs this deterioration begins later in life between the ages of 60-70.
Ecology and Habitats
The ancestral home of the orcs is the land known as Khotland, the westernmost peninsula of the Wildren continent. The area is in the lowlands surrounding the mountains. Full of hills and stones making the ground terrible for farming but decent for grazing goats, sheep, and aurochs. Scattered throughout the highlands and the southern coast are evergreen forests.
