Alduin
Alduin is a region south of the Splijt, nested between the foothills of the mountain and almost unreachable in the winter, life is almost untouched. Because the region is between the high mountains which flows over rugged hills, dense forest to the open hinterland, Alduin is a mix of ecosystems. The people who do live here call is a hidden gem.
Though Alduin lies in the middle of the country, only a weeks travel of the capital city and a few days from bigger towns and cities, the unique circumstances of this region results in a kind of enclave where life flourishes and the connection between nature and humans is strong. Most of the year, people have to travel around the high mountains that surround the dense forests, open fields and hills.
Travellers only pass through when the few roads are accessible and they only stop to find shelter for the night. Even though it is a outlying area, people do still live here. Spread over a few small settlements that are to small to be called a town. They're mostly a handful of houses grouped together. The people who live here, do not care about the rest of the country. They take care of their own and have done so for the majority of known history.
Accessibility
Though the mountains on the north and west side make it almost impossible to travel here in the winter, the east and south-east side of the region lies completely open. However, most people want to travel to the capital or the more populated places on the west of the mountain range, so they have to travel around via the south, missing this magical region.
