While The Scribes are strictly organized hierarchically and structurally, things like gender roles and racial identities often fall away, even for people that join later.

Dry wit and puns are the 'favored' senses of humor, but gallows humor is a mainstay, and irony. Slapstick is considered childish and even wrong in cases like 3 Stooges.
Universally, the Scribes value knowledge and accuracy. Most are raised to appreciate simplicity and work. Tedium is not a known word, and the happiest a scribe can be is usually when collecting obscure or unusual information.

Scribes are often paired by Archivists, especially to promote desired qualities in offspring, to make up for shortcomings or for the sake of continuing quality lines. Elvish bloodline often means not a lot of breeding necessary, which is preferred by most Scribes anyway.
