Runes
Runes are a way to channel magic into non-magical items, and there are at least four different languages around those, none of which are an actual spoken language but are instead imitations of the leylines of the realm from which the magic comes.
Divine Runes are the most unique, being dictated by the god they're made for. They're usually sigils, but can be reflections of the branch of river taken for the divine realm for that god. These reflection-runes are usually temporary, lasting only a hundred years or so.
Runes for Psionic magic are rarely effective, and are usually bubbles, circles, dots, or otherwise indications of a wholeness separate and unto itself. Doing it right is nearly impossible because its lack of Truth here in the stories tends to make it inconsistent.
Psychic magic runes cannot be applied to an item, but can be used as tuning points for users, should they draw out a rune and stand on it. Psychics will often try to tattoo these onto their bodies somehow, as well.
Faerie does not get leylines, but does have the roots of The World Tree shaping the flow of magic around the planet.
Primordial runes, much like their leylines, are definitive and universal, and strong but simple. Even accidentally carving something shaped like the right curve can imbue and strengthen (or weaken, depending).
