Orcs

Cat has decided on the pig-based life form thing, and we're rolling with it.   Orcs were given Nocwen to settle first, planted in the middle with a handful of families and allowed to expand from there.
Noses can range from nearly flat on their face to a full on three-inch snout, tusks can range from two to seven inches (5-18 cm). The record is nine inches (~23 cm).
Orcs, as with most of my peoples, vary widely by where they live. Unlike most of the others, however, the variety is directly regional. They started on Nocwen, and in the center of it, so the spread was pretty wide pretty fast, as it's got a healthy variety of landscape.
(After some really weak looking-up of pig evolution, which is apparently a hot button issue to a lot of zoologists...)
Orcs are a lot like humans in that they can live just about anywhere, and the various active phenotypes reflect ancestral home evolution that changes things like tusk formation, facial structure, and the general growth of hair.
The shape of snout for pigs seems to be dictated mostly by a combination of diet and whether or not they swim, but orcs aren't even kind of aquatic, so those aren't really a big deal (I'm cool with aardvark people, but not right now.) Hair is apparently ruled by sun exposure...
Typical build is long-torsoed with short limbs, strong and surprisingly fast.
I do not know what to do with the tusks other than normalize them to regional happenstance, 'cos the evolutionary purpose seems to be mostly to impress girls.
When I get to it, I'll mark out the subtypes. The general 'orc' is going to be between six and ten feet tall (the ten-footers are reserved for Saban), weigh at least two hundred pounds, and relies a lot on upper body strength.
They're pretty adaptable and fairly tough, and they live as broadly as humans. Teeth are similarly omnivorous, and while they prefer meat more than humans, early orcs lacked the system of 'can I eat this? How about if I catch it on fire?" process of food exploration, because they actually belong on the planet and had an instinct about what to fucking eat. Orc cuisine leans toward meat treatments and fruity stuff, no matter the subtype.
I dunno about pigs, but orcs, I've decided, are not that great at balancing. The fluid in their ears is thick. They're hard to make dizzy, however.
