Longrass Pine

Winter 4300 - Spring 4344

A drunk, born to Seeker Stormborn and Jasper of the Longrass pride in 4293.

He and his brother were children when their father died on a hunt, and they settled until a new Seeker was to be chosen. It doesn't normally travel in a family line, but it had traveled in his for at least three generations, so it was just assumed they'd pick him.

So he grew up being told that one day, he was gonna be seeker and he was gonna take the spear and lead the Pride on the road.

And that never fucking happened. Not even a little. I think there might have been a couple of choosing ceremonies before he got too old to be Chosen. Not his brother, either, and as far as he knew, the chances were gone with them.

It left him feeling very purposeless and hollowed out, and he developed a drinking problem shortly thereafter, turning to the civilized villages nearby and foraging for 'substances' and so on to deal with it, rather than admit that he felt entitled to the spirits' attention aloud to anyone.

Hope was sparked again by his nephew. He was strong and brave and smart, surely he would be chosen, right? Pine spent time and energy training Tiger and his little wife, training and practicing with them so that they'd be ready when the spirits did finally choose Tiger. That must have been why they didn't choose Pine, they were waiting for Tiger, right?

So, that ended badly, and Pine only got to be so badly hurt for a few days before he was murdered in his sleep.
