Mana burn
Failing to cast a spell (whether due to insufficient knowledge, lack of skill, or lack of concentration), may cause a magic user to receive Mana burn.
You get hurt initially from the failed spell, and afterwards as long as you still have mana burn, you start losing mana and getting hurt from it.
Causes
Insufficient knowledge, lack of skill, or lack of concentration when casting a spell may cause it to backfire and cause mana burn in the caster.
Another magic user can also cast a spell that causes this condition.
Symptoms
You begin to leak mana and also get physically hurt from it.
Some scholars claim that repeated mana burns may have long term effects, but this hasn't been verified.
Treatment
The magic user themselves can concentrate on themselves to plug the leak.
If they fail to do so, another magic user can plug the leak for them, or they can take a medicine for mana burn.
