Mischief Mire
Mischief Mire is the historical cradle of the Gremlin race. Taking the form of a muddy swamp, trickery and illusions pose more of a threat than the native wildlife in this lawless land.
Geography
Mischief Mire is a vast, swampy wetland that encompasses a large swath of the land to the west of the Typhonic Plains. Numerous small lakes and pools mottle the land's surface, connected by small streams. The land in between is muddy and teeming with water- and salt-loving vegetation.
Localized Phenomena
Mischief Mire gets its name from the illusion magic that runs wild throughout its swampy lands. These illusions can take the form of animals, faeries, magical beasts, or even objects, and can be quite sophisticated and realistic. These hallucinations have led many a traveler astray when traversing the mire.
In the Golden Era, it was said by those from outside the mire that these illusions were caused by dark Gremlin wizards looking to mislead victims into harm's way. This among other things provided fuel for many races' intolerance towards Gremlins. However, the Gremlins themselves always knew what the visions were: expressions of the inherent Dark magic of the swamps.
Climate
As to be expected, Mischief Mire enjoys a damp, humid climate. Unlike with its close neighbor, Mt. Mischief, the temperature remains fairly consistent throughout the year. This is because of the water maintaining a consistent temperature no matter the season.
There may be some frost during the winter due to the salt content of the soil encouraging the water within to freeze.
Fauna & Flora
If the illusions in Mischief Mire don't intimidate travelers, its fauna certainly do. While the mire doesn't have mega-spiders like the Arachno Swamp, it does have mosquitoes the size of kaiser rolls, as well as swamp-dwelling Basilisks and snapping dragon turtles.
As mentioned above, plants that enjoy water and salt rich environments thrive in Mischief Mire. Mangroves, trees that migrated to Altairus via the Altairus Portals, grow large enough to house miniature civilizations in their boughs.

Tourism
Like with Mt. Mischief, those looking to learn more about the Gremlin race travel to Mischief Mire. There are also numerous trading hubs hidden in the swamps if one works hard to find them. Just be careful not to get lost!
