Primordals

Spirits born natively to the prime material plane that are immortal are known as primordials. Immortals are not immune to death but just don't die of old age. Very few species are primordials as the spirit is reincarnated when it is ready to reenter the world anew. It loses its memory of its previous life to live again. Dragons and giants are two of the most well known primordials as they commanded vast empires and ruled mortal primals before their kingdoms fell in their massive world encompassing war.

Primals are the common name for all mortals born on the prime material plane. They live their lives and are subject to aging. When they pass their body remains on the prime material, their memories are shed in the astral as the remains pass on to the outer planes. In the outer planes they then reside on a plane that matches the morality of their deeds in life. In some cases these souls can be reborn without the memories of their past life if they are not consumed for power by the powers that reside on those outer planes.
