Aether Flier Captain

Ever since we looked skyward people have been always trying to find a way to make their place in the skies. When the world was sundered literally every place on Necessa became skybound and required flight or teleportation to traverse. Thankfully with the invention of the Aether flier it was now possible to reach for the skies, the aether mists and even the astral stars. Larger vessels that were personal conveyances required larger crews that would service the ship. One such member of the crew is the captain and they become famous in a way as part of the identity of the ship. Since aether fliers bring in people and goods they are beloved by many so the captains and crew are often warmly welcomed in most communities. This naturally leads to children dreaming of being an aether flier captain themselves. Whether it is the desire to lead a crew, steer a ship or going on untold adventures to find lost treasure or navigate the skies many are drawn to the role of captain of an aether flyer.

Career

Qualifications

Most qualified captains come from some form of service previous to taking up the ship's mantle either from time as a deckhand and then as a first mate. Sometimes social position can prompt a promotion to captain by serving as member of an aether navy. Promising captains can see the bigger picture of running a ship and keeping it going forward on its current charter and taking care of the crew and withstanding the harsh realities of aether weather and travel.

Career Progression

Career Progression starts typically as a deckhand and then being promoted to first mate and then becoming captain of the vessel or picking up a new vessel of their own. Captains that are part of a larger group can sometimes become admirals in an aether navy
