Pale Land
The Pale is the home and birthplace of spirits. A domain parallel to Aervos Prime, it is the origin place of native spirits, where the pale figures roam the land. It is the entryway to new realms, and often a battlefield for warring spirits and their followers.
Inhabitants
The Pale features a diverse amount of races of ethnicites. The most common will be the native, unmanifested spirits. The pale creatures roam the land, searching for power and purpose. Once a spirit manifests, they now are able enter Aervos Prime, or stay and roam the Pale. These Spirits often will try to accrue more power, magical or political, by gaining followers or entering the divine court. The Divine Court is the current ruling power in the Pale Land. Once ruling on Aervos Prime, the once very powerful spirits now hold court in the Pale, using their influence with spirits and immortals to assert dominance on the realm. They take a great interest in newly manifested spirits, often trying to recruit them to their cause. The Spirits are accompanied by a race of mortals dedicated to serving the Divine Court, the Awoken. A humanoid race with blue tinted skin, they live in the Pale serve the Spirits residing in it. In turn, they are granted certain gifts, abilities, or other boons. The will also serve as warriors, fighting for their chosen spirit, or representatives, communicating with mortals. They will also tend to take on characteristics of the spirit they serve, both physically and personality wise. The Gateway
The Pale serves as a gateway to other domains, and requires passage through the lands in order to access them, if they ruler of the domain will not grant access. The gates are scattered throughout the realm. The gates can appear on Aervos Prime as well, through multiple methods. Every so often in the Pale, a dimensional rift of magic energy will manifest. A powerful enough spirit can turn the rift into a new domain, becoming the ruler of the realm. This results in many spirits vying for control of the rift, often leading to all out wars between the spirits and their followers. These battles can last for ages, and often have catastrophic results.Geography
The Pale Land geography vaguely resembles a reflection of Aervos Prime, and travelling involves travelling the same distance in both realms. The sky is a permanent dark blue, never changing on the time, with a large moon lighting up the dusk. Fungi in many different forms, such as large building sized mushrooms or growing and spreading on trees and plants, covering much of the flora in the Pale, and are very common. Glowing pale white orbs, varying in size, are the presumed “spores” of the fungi and float around the realm. It is said that the fungi actually feeds and stores magical energy, then spreading it around the realm. Perhaps that is why the fungi grows the largest in places where magic activity is or was the strongest in Aervos prime, as well as activity in the Pale itself. Significant locations or buildings in Pale are often where the clusters of fungi are largest, unknown as to which came first.
