A Note On "Humanoid"
Most "humanoid" races are a combination of build (waifish, human-average, broad) and height (short (3-5'), human-average (5-6.5'), tall (6.5-8')). For example, dwarves are broad and short, while half-giants are broad and tall. Elves are waifish and average height, and halflings are short and average build. For many half-breeds, they have a greater range of size+build than one might assume. A half-orc is likely to be taller and broader than a human in general, thanks to their orcish heritage, but if their other parent is a dwarf, they may wind up 5' tall and built like a brick wall. If a half-orc's other parent is an elf, however, they may wind up with an almost human-like build but nearly 7' tall. For uncertain-origin races like shifters and tieflings, they can have any build+size that would make sense for their heritage. Gnome-sized tiefling? Absolutely. A shifter the size of a half-giant? Dwarf-shaped aasimar? Uncomfortably tall and slender water genasi? Hell yes. Any "race" that can be born to seemingly-unrelated parents can have a similar bodytype as their parents (but can also be completely different, if you choose)! Tl;dr: Don't be afraid to explore the full range of options for your chosen race.Remove these ads. Join the Worldbuilders Guild
