Ythrynaar the Ashbringer

The Interloper Dragon; Eater of Worlds

Ythrynaar, also known as the Ashbringer, the Interloper Dragon, and the Worldeater, was a non-deified Dragon of immense power and strength that came to A'arde after the Call of the Beacons loosened the bonds that trapped him in his eternal prison.

While initially presenting himself as an ally to A'arde, Ythrynaar instigated civil war amongst Dragonkind in a bid to steal the power of the Draconic Pantheon, ascend to Godhood, and rule over the world as Supreme God-Emperor, with Dragonkin as his faithful subordinates and all other Species reduced to slaves and produce. His efforts began the Reign of Ash, a war that lasted two years and decimated much of the world before he slew Eron-Enis, one of the Draconic Gods. This act ultimately led to retaliation by Eron-Enis's parents and grandmother, all Gods themselves, which resulted in the death of Ythrynaar and the deaths of a great many Mortals as collateral damage.

These events led to the end of the Age of Dragons and the withdrawal of Dragonkind from general day to day life as penance for the destruction they brought to the world.

Physical Description

Body Features

Ythrynaar was categorised as a "World-Eater" type dragon, meaning that he was of massive size without being deified. He had four wings and four limbs, a long tail tipped with poisoned spines and a long neck lined with an impressive sailfin.

His scales were black with dark green and white shimmers, while his eyes shifted between shades of green and red depending on his mood. Ythrynaar's claws were long and serrated, and partially retractable.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

It was never discovered precisely why Ythrynaar was imprisoned within an Astral Cage, as the Ashbringer was never forthcoming with such information. However, the Draconic Pantheon suspect that Ythrynaar's nature as a World Eater may have contributed to the reasons, as it later became clear that he had been responsible for the destruction of many so-called "inferior" worlds before his imprisonment.

It is also not known how long the Ashbringer was trapped within the Astral Cage before the Call of the Beacons penetrated it, but the Deific magic that crafted the Beacons was strong enough to loosen the barriers holding Ythrynaar and slowly allow him to break free of his restraints.

When Ythrynaar first arrived in A'arde, he presented as charming and diplomatic, even going so far as to compress his power and shrink his size so as not to alarm the residents of the world. However, his true nature slowly began to emerge as he whispered supremacist ideals into the minds of Dragonkin, speaking of a world where Dragonkin ruled over all others as Kings rather than working collaboratively with the other Sapients.
