Mana Excess

Hyperdunamia

Hyperdunamia, known Commonly as Mana Excess, is a condition of the Mana System, most typically the Mana Pool, where too much Mana is present within the system. Not considered as serious as Mana Overload, Mana Excess is nonetheless a serious condition that requires immediate intervention to prevent serious damage to the Mana Pool and Weave Channel, or escalation to Mana Overload.

Typically caused by overactive purification processes forcing Mana through the Prevesical Dunamic Sphincter, it can also be a sign of Sphinctal Weakness or a disfunction of the Mana Pool's "off switch".

Mana Excess is not necessarily fatal, but it has the potential to rapidly become so without warning. Symptoms can appear within moments of an event, and progress very quickly when left unchecked. That said, Mana Excess is still considered a relatively rare condition that, with proper, timely treatment, can be quickly recovered from.

Causes

Generally considered a symptom of underlying Mana Conditions, Mana Excess is typically caused by other issues within the Mana System, usually related to the Katharsic Dunamocytes or Prevesical Sphincter. These issues can be acute or chronic in nature, though resolving the underlying issue does not always immediately resolve the Mana Excess.

Exposure to highly concentrated purified Mana can also cause or exacerbate the condition, and those who have experienced previous episodes of Mana Excess are advised to utilise caution around large objects and environments with pure Mana, such as Purified Mana Stones.

The condition can also be caused by overuse of Mana Potions or other recovery-type consumables. These instances tend to be less severe, but are by no means any less serious.

Symptoms

Symptoms of Mana Excess include a burning sensation in the chest like indigestion, tingling/buzzing sensations in the arms and jaw, feeling sick or nauseous, headaches, and eventually Mana Leakage.

Treatment

The condition is typically resolved by the controlled release of Mana through the Weave Channel to release the pressure building up within the Mana System. However, some cases of Mana Excess require the use of Occlusives and Mana Dispersion.
