The Blooming Pastures have rich dark soil with an earthy red
tint to it. The Shepherd's cottage is nestled in the valley and is surrounded by rolling hills to the west and jagged mountains to the far north. The firey
flaming sun illuminates this rich land with a glowing red ambience that is complemented by many orange wildflowers that grow in the area. Hues of reds, browns and gold make the place feel very autumnal, especially at sunrise and sunset.
At this time of year, the leaves of the encroaching forests have turned into amber and red colours and are shedding
red petal leaves into the wind - painting the landscape in an inferno of colour. The bark on the trees is
dark and crumbling. The soggy red mulch of
leaves gives off a strong
aroma full of
mould, but it makes really good fertilizer for the daisies and helps them grow faster. Insects and worms devour this mulch and turn it back into the rich, red soil of the
crimson valley.
The Shepherd needs more food for his growing flock to survive the winter. They have nearly eaten every
daisy in sight. The
bales are running out and he is even considering sacrificing his own food from his cottage garden to feed them instead of himself, but it won't be enough. It's too late to move the
herd of
nomeds at this time of year, they will use up too much energy walking so far away and there is no guarantee of there being enough food in the next valley over.
With winter rapidly approaching, the winds now
howl through the exposed black branches.
The Shepherd will have to leave his realm once again and hope that he can bring back enough food for the herd's survival.
Not creepy at all. Not at all.
