Kashakas are a small hand-held percussion instrument that look like a string or leather cord with a ball at each end (usually a gourd or large nut). The ball is filled with dry beans or sometimes tiny river pebbles and sand so that when shaken it makes a nice sound.
One ball is usually held in the hand with the cord between two fingers, and then you move your hands and wrists to let the other end move freely or clack into the other one in rhythmic motions.
