Teach Tricks in Genesys

Teach Tricks

Tier:   1
Activation:   Active (Maneuver)
Ranked:    Yes

Your character can teach a mount (or Familiar, or Animal Companion) a number of special tricks (behaviors). The character must spend a maneuver to properly give the mount the appropriate signal. The character can teach a creature 2 tricks per rank in this talent. In some cases, the GM may require a Riding skill check to ensure the command is understood. The tricks available are:

  • Attack/Back Down: With this command, the creature will use whatever attacks or special abilities it has to attack the designated target of its master. If a creature has multiple options, the master can dictate a specific one. Conversely, there is also a command to cease attacking.
  • Battle Hardened: (Passive). Instead of a command, this trick is passive. The creature will not panic in combat and is accustomed to it.
  • Come: The creature will come to its master when cued with a specific call or command.
  • Fetch: With this command, the creature will fetch a given item (considering its Intellect and training) and bring it back to its master.
  • Flee: With this command, the creature will flee the encounter and attempt to get somewhere it feels safe, returning at the end of the encounter to find its master.
  • Get Help: With this command, the creature will seek out one of its master’s designated allies (determined during the training) and try to bring them to its master.
  • Guard: With this command, the creature will stay in place and prevent others from approaching the area.
  • Heel: The creature will follow its master closely, staying close at hand.
  • Hunt/Forage: With this command, the creature will stay in the general area and either hunt for food or forage (depending on the creature type) on its own, ceasing when its master calls.
  • Intimidate: The creature will bare its fangs, growl, bark, or otherwise put on a threatening display to intimidate others.
  • Sneak: The creature will use whatever stealth it possesses to move quietly.
  • Stay: With this command, the creature stays in place and waits for its master to return. It will defend itself if attacked, but otherwise simply stays put where commanded.
